Greenbelt Landscapes to Build Show Garden at the 2011 Holker Garden Festival
on May 30 in Latest NewsLancashire based, Greenbelt Landscapes, members of the Association of Professional Landscapers, has been selected as one of the 11 show gardens to compete at the prestigious Holker Garden Festival for the prize of Best Show Garden 2011. This annual festival attracted over 23,000 visitors last year and is a celebration of gardens, countryside, food and crafts and this year will run from 3rd – 5th June within the grounds of Holker Hall & Gardens in Cumbria.
Greenbelt Landscapes was selected to build one of only 11 show gardens. Sarah Ross, Head of Visitor Services at Holker Hall & Gardens comments: “We strive for clarity and perfection at Holker and thus are extremely selective about whom we pick to create show gardens. Greenbelt Landscapes came highly recommended to us by gardening contemporaries and as members of the Association of Professional Landscapers we can be sure they will meet the highest standards of professionalism. We wish Greenbelt Landscapes every success at their first Holker Garden Festival”
Greenbelt will build the ‘Reflect’ show garden, which was designed by Paul Richards (MSGD) to reflect the way 1920’s/1930’s style is still relevant today. Richards’s comments: “I am delighted to be working with Matthew, Belinda and their team – we can always count on them to deliver meticulous results when dealing with our clients. Whether they are working on a small courtyard or undertaking grand-scale transformations they are always full of enthusiasm and passion.”
The garden will incorporate an ambitious reflective pool with a striking corner pavilion, Le Corbusier chair and hedra fences all set amongst exuberant grasses and perennial planting.
It is the first time that Greenbelt will be involved in this horticultural event, fresh off their Best Newcomer victory at Southport Flower Show.
Greenbelt Managing Director, Matthew Belt comments: “We are absolutely thrilled to be selected to build this ambitious show garden at the Holker Festival. It’s a complex build that requires thorough precision in parts, but we pride ourselves on excellence and are really looking forward to the challenge”.
The three day event will take place from Friday 3rd until Sunday 5th June, with BBC Gardener’s World presenter Carol Klein already confirmed as this years’ special guest, returning for a second year having been extremely popular with visitors in 2010.
